Author visit - Sergio Troncoso!

Join us this  Tuesday ,  November 5th  at  5 pm , as we welcome author and educator Sergio Troncoso at the Sergio Troncoso Branch Library . In 2014, the El Paso City Council voted unanimously to rename the Ysleta Branch Public Library in honor of Sergio Troncoso.  Now you can visit with Mr. Troncoso as he reads from his latest book A Peculiar Kind of Immigrant's Son . This event is free and open to the public.

CREEPY CRAWLY STORY TIME!

Do you like bugs?  Do you like stories?  Do you like bugs, and stories, and crafts?  If so, join us here at the Sergio Troncoso Public Library for a very special creepy-crawly story time presented by the El Paso Zoo ! Like all library story times, this event is free and open to the public!  On Wednesday, October 9 at 2 pm here at the Sergio Troncoso Public Library, there will be  BUGS! We'll read stories about bugs, make bug crafts, and visit with some real live insects!   See you this Wednesday!

Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month by getting your very own library card here at the Sergio Troncoso Public Library ! With your library card, you will have access to books, audio books, music, movies, and so much more.  And you'll also have access to those materials right on your smartphone with the many apps that are available - for free! - with your library card! We have several different library card designs for you to chose from, including the rare Desert Dinosaurs card, from the early 2000s. We might even be the only library in El Paso to still carry this design! Join us for our new time on Wednesdays for Story Time starting September 4 at 2:00 pm! Tuesdays and Saturdays we will still be having Story Time at 11:00 am for all ages. Troncoso Reading Prizes

Students!  Enter to win one of the Sergio Troncoso Reading Prizes ! Stop by the Sergio Troncoso Mini Library (temporarily located inside of the Pavo Real Recreation Center, classroom #3) to pick up your reading log. Prizes will be given to the students who read the most books  from November 15th to January 31st - minimum requirement is five books.  Each student must also pick a favorite book from the books read and write a short essay (100 words or more) on that book. There are two categories of prizes: First , Second , and Third Place for students in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade; First , Second , and Third Place for students in 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. Closing our SRC with balloons!

To bring our Summer Reading Club to a close, we had a party!  Our special guest was Rob Holladay, the Magical Balloon Guy! The Magical Balloon Guy is a great friend to the El Paso libraries.  He loves books and he started the show with a pledge to read more books! Behold the transformative powers of the Magical Balloon Guy!  Are those the Ninja Turtles?  And Shredder?  Why yes they are! CLOSED for Renovations

Attention patrons!  The Sergio Troncoso Branch Library is now CLOSED for renovations.  We are excited for these upcoming changes and we will be ready to reopen in early to mid 2019. During this time, please visit us at the mini library we set up right next door at the Pavo Real Rec Center , located in classroom three .  You will still be able to check items in and out and also pick up holds. Our Computer Class is cancelled and we will no longer be offering faxing services.  Please contact other branch libraries if you are interested in free computer classes or faxing. We will still be offering: Story Time , Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 to 12 pm Teen Hangout , Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm And our Crochet Club will be meeting every Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm. BALLOONS at the Summer Reading Club Party!

Join us this Saturday, August 4th, at 2 pm for the last Summer Reading Club party ! Free and open to the public, we are very excited to have  Rob Holladay,  the  MAGICAL BALLOON GUY , as our special performer! This Saturday will also be the last day to register for the Summer Reading Club.  If you have already registered, bring in your reading log to get your prize.  Once the prizes are gone, they're gone!  We will be accepting reading logs until August 25.  

Amazing Adrian Magic Show!

The Amazing Adrian wowed us with his magic show this past Saturday, here at the Sergio Troncoso Public Library. He began his performance with his magical doves that appeared from out of thin air! We were squirming in our seats as the Amazing Adrian revealed a HUGE needle!  He was going to try to insert this massive needle into a balloon without popping it – impossible! He had volunteers touch the balloon to prove that it was real - it was! We held our breath as the Amazing Adrian had the crowd count down “3! 2! 1!” and like magic (hahaha), he pierced the balloon and it didn’t pop! TA-DA!
