Every Saturday afternoon the Ysleta Branch Library features a movie matinee at 3:00pm. Patrons are invited to view the current and classic selections of your favorite titles. On March 14, 2012 the Ysleta Branch Library hosted the second class on Origami, the Japanese art of folding paper. Paper can be folded into virtually anything you can think of and in part II, Aimee Camp showed the group a few more complex designs. They learned to create objects such as a bin, a shirt, a crane, a butterfly, a flower, and a balloon. The patrons enjoyed their handiworks. RR

On Saturday March 3, 2012 the Ysleta Branch Library held a birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss. Theodore Seuss Geisel, born on March 2, 1904, was an American writer, poet and cartoonist that published 46 children’s books, all of which can be found in our library catalog. Forty-eight attendees, mostly kids, enjoyed storytime, fingerplays, music, dance, green eggs & ham crafts, cookies and lemonade. The Cat In The Hat made an appearance to add to the amusement and laughter. Robert Ramirez

February 18, 2012 Ysleta Branch Library hosted a workshop on Metal Embossing/Repujado.   Repujado is an ancient metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped to create a design. Thirty patrons attended this workshop taught by Ysleta Branch staff member Gabby Flores. They worked their designs on an aluminum medium and then colored with paint/marker. Beautiful 3-dimensional art was created surely to be displayed and enjoyed by all.   Robert Ramirez
