Google Earth

Image
On September 24, 2012 the Ysleta Branch Library held a presentation on Google Earth. Patrons of the library travelled the world, went to the moon, mars and the universe through a computer generated virtual 3D experience. Google Earth is a powerful tool that enables you to fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. RR

Bark Painting at Ysleta Branch

Image
As part of the Teen Summer Reading programming, patrons of Ysleta attended a class on June 14, 2012 where they learned Bark Painting. This is originally an Australian Aboriginal art form involving painting the interior of a strip of tree bark used for instructional and ceremonial purposes. As you can see our young patrons are quite artistic. RR

Balloon Twisting at YS!

Image
On September 12, 2012 Ysleta Branch Library hosted an entertaining class on the modeling technique known as Balloon Twisting. The origins of balloon twisting date back to 1939 by a Pennsylvania magician. Today this fun filled activity lives on, taught by YS Branch manager and balloon artist, Aimee Camp. The patrons in attendance were “all smiles” as they twisted their colorful balloons into different kinds of animals and objects.   Don’t miss out on the next balloon class! RR
