For several years, El Grupo de las Tejedoras has been meeting at the Ysleta Branch Library creating their craft. Each year they donated their time and craft for a worthy cause. El Grupo wish to report that since January they have made 108 scarves for the Opportunity Center here in El Paso. Ysleta Branch wishes to salute them for their generosity and achievement!

Ysleta Branch and the Ready To Read program continues with "Feelings". Kids can hear stories and learn about their feeling and afterwards will make a paper plate mood face for craft. This program will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 11:00 am and at 3:00 pm.

On Thursday, May 8, 2014 the Ysleta Branch Library was presented a plaque from the Ysleta Independent School District. YS Branch Manager, John Faria, accepted the plaque for recognition of time and service given to area schools in the Outreach and Storytime programs. Ysleta Branch thanks YISD for props received.

On Wednesday, May 21, 2014, the Ready to Read program at YS will be about bees. Kids listen to a story about these very important flying insects. Afterwards there will be crafttime. Ready to Read will begin at 11:00 am, Bee there!

Ysleta Branch Library remembers the fallen U.S.soldiers and Americans in observance of Memorial Day. On Tuesday, May 20, 2014, the Ready to Read program will invite our young patrons to some Memorial Day fun. Storytime will focus on this special holiday followed by craft time. The fun starts at 11:00 am and an encore at 3:00 pm!

The Ysleta Branch Library and the Ready To Read program is having a Tea Party! Relax, enjoy and listen to a story as you sip a warm cup of tea with us. Tea time starts at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 here at YS.  Jolly good!

The Ready To Read program on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 will feature the "Wild Child". Hear stories and learn about wild children, like Tarzan. Make a wild boy mask for craft time. The fun starts at 11:00 am and again at 3:00 pm. It is going to be a swinging good time!

For the month of May Ysleta Branch Library will host four computer classes, An Introduction to Facebook. These classes will be held every Wednesday at 5:30 pm starting May 7, 2014 and to continue on the 14th, 21st and 28th at that same time. Requirements are that you must have an e-mail account and must know computer basics. Keep in touch with Facebook!

Mother's Day is coming up and the Ysleta Branch Library will commemorate with three Ready to Read sessions. On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm kids can show their Mom's how much they love her with their own handcrafted card. The Ready To Read program will continue on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 am. Our young patrons can celebrate Mom's special day and make her a picture frame for her favorite photo. Join us!

Saturday, April 26, 2014, was Dia de Los Ninos/Dia de Los Libros. As El Pasoans enjoyed the festivities at Washington Park, DVD Branch and EAM Branch the Ysleta Branch Library also celebrated with a half price book sale in the Friendly Owl Bookstore. To carry on the DDLN/DDLL tradition of instilling a love for reading, many free books were handed out to our young patrons.
